1Afionas Village and Porto Timoni
Distance from Corfu Town: 35 km (55 minutes)
Afionas is often considered one of the most beautiful villages in Corfu and a dream destination for couples. The traditional stone houses, colorful flowers, narrow alleyways, and spectacular sea views create a naturally romantic atmosphere. From the village, a scenic path leads to Porto Timoni, one of the island’s most famous hidden beaches.
Couples can enjoy a sunset dinner overlooking the sea before taking a peaceful evening stroll through the village. The views from Afionas are among the most photographed in Corfu, while Porto Timoni offers crystal-clear waters perfect for swimming together. The combination of mountain scenery, sea views, and authentic village charm makes this one of the most romantic locations on the island.
Best time to visit: Late afternoon and sunset from May to October.
Nearby places worth visiting: Agios Georgios Pagon Beach, Arillas Beach, Cape Drastis.
Author’s Note
As someone who lives in Corfu, I feel incredibly fortunate to call this island home. Corfu is not only famous for its beaches and landscapes, but also for its UNESCO-listed Old Town, where history, culture, and everyday life blend together in a truly unique way. My favourite place to go out and have fun is Sidari, or Golden beach bar in Moraitika, and Molfetta beach bar in Gouvia. 😉
Romantic Tip from a Local
As a local, I believe the most romantic moments in Corfu happen when you slow down and explore beyond the famous attractions. Wake up early for a sunrise, stay a little longer for sunset, and don’t be afraid to take the smaller roads. Some of the island’s most beautiful memories are found in places that never make it into the guidebooks.
