Agios Stefanos Avliotes

Only around 3–4 km from Arillas, Agios Stefanos has a longer sandy beach, relaxed tavernas, a quieter village atmosphere, and a small harbour.

It is also the main nearby departure point for summer trips to the Diapontia Islands.

Afionas & Porto Timoni

Afionas is a traditional hilltop village known for its narrow streets, restaurants, sunset views, and the walking route to Porto Timoni.

The Porto Timoni path is steep, rocky, and exposed to the sun. Wear proper shoes, take enough water, and avoid the hottest hours. There are no normal beach facilities once you reach the coves.

Agios Georgios Pagon

Agios Georgios Pagon is a wide bay surrounded by mountain scenery. It offers beach tavernas, boat activities, and a more dramatic landscape than Arillas.

The sea can become stronger, especially during windy weather. Check the conditions before swimming and supervise children carefully.

Sidari & Canal d’Amour

Sidari is around 10 km away and offers more restaurants, bars, entertainment, shops, boat trips, and generally cheaper food and drink.

Visit Canal d’Amour early in the morning for fewer people. Avoid entering its narrow sea channels during rough weather.

Peroulades, Loggas & Cape Drastis

Peroulades is known for Loggas Beach, its high sandstone cliffs, and west-facing sunset views. Cape Drastis offers one of the most dramatic coastal landscapes in northern Corfu.

Cliff erosion is a serious concern in this area. Obey warning signs, avoid unstable edges, and do not take risks for photographs.

⛵ Trips to the Diapontia Islands

The small harbour at Agios Stefanos Avliotes is only a few minutes from Arillas and is a gateway to the Diapontia Islands.

Othonoi is Greece’s westernmost inhabited island. Ereikoussa is known for its sandy beaches and relaxed atmosphere, while Mathraki is smaller and much quieter.

Boat routes depend on the season, weather, and operator. Confirm the departure harbour, journey time, swimming stops, return time, and cancellation policy before booking.

Arillas itself does not have a harbour, so do not assume that your excursion departs directly from the village.

🍽️ Food, Cocktails & Prices

Arillas has beachfront tavernas, cafés, bars, international food, and healthier options connected with its wellness community.

For reasonably priced cocktails and a friendly atmosphere, I often recommend Coconut Bar. It is run by two good friends of mine, Periklis and Kostas, who offer quality drinks without luxury-resort prices.

For food, Athina Taverna has a good reputation among locals and repeat visitors. Restaurant ownership, menus, prices, and opening days can change, so check recent information before visiting.

💰 Is Arillas Expensive?

To be honest, yes. Accommodation, food, coffee, cocktails, and beach services have become surprisingly expensive, especially near the seafront during July and August.

Budget travellers should compare displayed menus before sitting down and consider eating in nearby inland villages.

Sidari normally has cheaper restaurants and bars because there is more competition.

🌙 Evenings & Nightlife

Evenings in Arillas are based around sunset drinks, relaxed meals, friendly bars, occasional live music, and wellness or community events.

It is not a nightclub destination. This suits visitors who prefer sociable evenings without the noise and crowds of a major resort.

Accommodation further inland may be quieter and sometimes better value, but check the exact walking route. Some properties described as being “near Arillas” may involve hills, dark roads, or a longer walk than expected.

Arillas is approximately 35 km from Corfu Airport and Corfu Town. The drive normally takes around 50–60 minutes and may take longer during heavy summer traffic.

You can reach Arillas by car, taxi, private transfer, or Green Bus. From the airport, public-transport passengers normally travel into Corfu Town and change buses.

It can be expensive, and travellers who want intense nightlife may become restless. But families, couples, and visitors looking for a slower and more personal Corfu experience often feel at home here very quickly.

Arillas is not trying to be Sidari, Kassiopi, or Corfu Town. Its appeal is that it has created its own rhythm—and has managed to keep it.
