Some shrimp dishes served in busy tourist areas are imported farmed shrimp instead of fresh local seafood from Greece. Besides environmental concerns connected with intensive shrimp farming, the taste is often less fresh than visitors expect.

Better option: Ask tavernas for seasonal Ionian seafood recommendations.
