Kontokali Corfu: A Small Coastal Area Close to Corfu Town
Kontokali is a small coastal area just north of Corfu Town, between the town and Gouvia. It is not one of Corfu’s large tourist resorts, but I like its location because you can stay close to the sea while still having easy access to Corfu Town, Gouvia and the central part of the island.
There is a small beach, tavernas, accommodation and a relaxed atmosphere, while nearby Gouvia offers many more choices for restaurants, bars and evening entertainment.
My Personal Connection With Kontokali
Kontokali is also a place that brings back personal memories for me because I worked many years ago at Kontokali Bay Hotel.
I still consider Kontokali Bay one of the jewels of Corfu. Its location beside the sea, surrounded by greenery and looking across the Ionian landscape, is one of those places that reminds me why Corfu became such a successful holiday destination.
Working there also gave me some of my early experience in Corfu tourism and hospitality, so Kontokali will always feel a little different to me from an ordinary resort.
Gouvia Is Just Next Door
When I worked in Kontokali, Gouvia was also one of the places where I used to go out at night. It has changed over the years, but there are still plenty of good choices for an evening out.
One place I still like is the beach bar at the Molfetta Hotel, Cactus. It regularly has live music nights, including Greek and Latin music, and I think it is a good option if you want something more relaxed than a large nightclub.

Is Kontokali a Good Place to Stay?
I would recommend Kontokali to visitors who want to stay close to Corfu Town without actually staying in the centre.
You also have Kontokali Marina very close for nightlife and restaurants, while the location makes it easy to start exploring both northern and southern Corfu by car.

Kontokali may not have the fame of Paleokastritsa or Kassiopi, but for me its convenient location, coastline and personal memories make it a part of Corfu that is definitely worth knowing.
