Wreck Beach lies below the University of British Columbia campus and feels a world away from the city above. Access is by a long staircase down the wooded bluff, so it is a poor fit for anyone with limited mobility or heavy beach gear. Carry your supplies with you; the return climb is part of the outing.
This is a popular clothing-optional beach, but visitors should still observe posted rules and give others space. Facilities and vendors may be seasonal, and the shore is not a place to assume you will find everything you need. Pack out your rubbish and take care on the stairs, particularly in wet weather.
