Renting a car is one of the best ways to explore Corfu, giving you the freedom to discover mountain villages, hidden beaches, viewpoints and places that public transport does not easily reach. But narrow village roads, limited lighting, steep routes and unfamiliar rental conditions can quickly create problems. Here are 10 mistakes worth avoiding before you start your Corfu road trip.
3Not Checking the Safety Equipment and Spare Tyre
Before leaving the rental office, ask where the vehicle’s safety equipment is stored and check that everything appears to be in place.
Ask specifically about the fire extinguisher and first-aid kit. You should also check whether the car has a spare tyre or another puncture solution, and ask the rental company what you should do if you get a flat tyre.
If there is a spare wheel, make sure it appears properly inflated and that the necessary tools are available.
It is much better to discover a missing or unusable item at the rental office than on a quiet road somewhere in the Corfu countryside.
