Renting a car is one of the best ways to explore Corfu, giving you the freedom to discover mountain villages, hidden beaches, viewpoints and places that public transport does not easily reach. But narrow village roads, limited lighting, steep routes and unfamiliar rental conditions can quickly create problems. Here are 10 mistakes worth avoiding before you start your Corfu road trip.

7Not Understanding the Insurance and Rental Conditions

Do not assume that phrases such as “full insurance” automatically mean that every possible type of damage is covered.

Before signing anything, ask what the insurance covers and whether there is an excess. Check specifically how damage to tyres, wheels, mirrors, windows and the underside of the vehicle is treated.

You should also understand the fuel policy, mileage allowance, additional-driver rules, deposit requirements and what happens if the car is returned late.

The cheapest advertised price is not necessarily the cheapest rental once all conditions and additional charges are taken into account.
