9Florina, Western Macedonia

Florina is famous for being one of Greece’s coldest cities during winter, but its northern location and altitude also make it an interesting summer destination.

The city sits at approximately 680 metres above sea level and is surrounded by mountains.

Visitors can walk beside the Sakoulevas River, enjoy the city’s cafés and restaurants and use Florina as a base for exploring nearby destinations.

Both Nymfaio and the Prespa Lakes can easily be included in the same trip.

Best for: Travelers looking for a quieter, less touristy side of Greece.
