5Arriving Too Late at Corfu’s Most Popular Beaches
Paleokastritsa, Porto Timoni, Glyfada, Barbati, Canal d’Amour and several other famous beaches can become extremely busy during July and August. Visitors arriving near midday may struggle to park, find a suitable place on the beach or rent sunbeds.
The experience can be especially disappointing when someone has travelled across the island expecting a peaceful beach shown in photographs, only to find crowds, excursion boats and full parking areas.
How to improve the experience: Arrive before 09:30, particularly at smaller beaches with limited parking. Another option is to visit after 16:30, when some day visitors begin to leave and the temperature becomes more comfortable.
Do not attempt to visit several famous beaches on opposite sides of the island in one day. Choose one area and explore it properly. Always keep valuables out of sight when leaving a rental car near a beach.
