4You Put the Wrong Fuel in the Car
This mistake can happen surprisingly easily, particularly when you are driving an unfamiliar vehicle.
If you realise that you have filled the car with the wrong fuel before starting the engine, do not start it.
Move away from the pumps only if this can be done safely without starting the vehicle and immediately call the rental company or roadside assistance.
If you have already started driving and then realise the mistake, stop safely as soon as possible, switch off the engine and request assistance.
Continuing to drive can turn a relatively simple fuel-drain procedure into much more serious engine damage.
Do not ask the petrol station or a local mechanic to drain or repair the rental vehicle unless the rental company approves it.
