7Experiencing a Power Cut During Very Hot Weather
A temporary power cut is much harder to tolerate in July or August, especially at night when an apartment becomes hot and the air conditioning, internet and sometimes the water pump stop working.
The experience becomes worse when guests arrive late, cannot contact the property manager or do not know whether the problem affects only their accommodation or the surrounding area.
How to improve the experience: Before booking, read recent reviews and confirm that someone can be contacted outside normal reception hours. On arrival, save the host’s telephone number and ask where the electrical panel is located.
Keep phones and power banks charged, and have a torch available rather than relying entirely on your phone. During very hot periods, keep bottled water in the accommodation. If the power fails, contact the owner before touching switches or attempting any repair yourself.
