9Depending Entirely on Public Transport
Corfu has useful urban and intercity bus services, but they do not provide frequent direct connections between every resort, beach and village. Travelling from one coastal area to another may require returning to Corfu Town and changing buses.
Buses can also become crowded during peak periods, while services are less frequent in remote areas and later in the evening. Missing the final bus can leave visitors facing an expensive taxi journey, if a taxi is available.
How to improve the experience: Check the official timetable again shortly before travelling and identify the correct bus stop in advance. Do not rely exclusively on an old photograph of a timetable or information from a previous season.
Stay near a useful bus route if you do not intend to rent a car. For greater freedom, consider renting a small car for only two or three carefully planned days instead of the entire holiday. Always pre-book important evening transfers and airport journeys.
