2Corfu Begins to Feel Like Home

The expression we hear most frequently from repeat visitors is that Corfu feels like a second home.

This does not mean that everything on the island is perfect. Regular visitors are often fully aware of the narrow roads, traffic, summer crowds and other local problems.

They return because the island feels familiar.

They know the road from the airport, the first view of the sea, the village supermarket, the owner of their favourite taverna and the beach where they enjoy spending the afternoon.

There is comfort in arriving somewhere you understand. You do not need to spend the first days learning how everything works. Instead, the holiday begins almost immediately.

For some people, the first evening in Corfu feels less like arriving at a tourist destination and more like returning to a familiar neighbourhood after being away for too long.
