Visitors arriving from drier Greek islands are often surprised by how green Corfu is.
Olive groves cover large parts of the countryside, tall cypress trees rise above villages and green hills frequently reach almost to the sea.
In spring and early summer, the landscape can be especially colourful, with wildflowers, gardens and vegetation surrounding roads, houses and walking paths.
