5Everyone Finds Their Own Special Place
Repeat visitors rarely speak only about Corfu in general. They usually have one particular village, resort or neighbourhood that has become “their” place.
For some, it is Kassiopi with its harbour, relaxed atmosphere and familiar local faces. One visitor described Kassiopi as the magnet that pulls the family back every year.
For others, it may be Arillas, Agios Stefanos, Roda, Acharavi, Paleokastritsa, Benitses, Kalami or a small village away from the main tourist areas.
Visitors return to the same accommodation, bakery, café and taverna. They also recognise other regular guests who book the same weeks every summer.
Over time, a small informal community develops. People may live in different countries during the winter but meet again in Corfu every year.
This sense of belonging is difficult for a completely new destination to replace.
